McConnell Music Therapy Services, Inc. offers individual and group music therapy services to clients of all ages and abilities in their home, school, or hospital setting.

Music creates changes in our brain that help us feel better, learn skills faster, move our bodies freer, and connect us deeper to each other and ourselves.

Music therapy is the specialized use of music by a credentialed professional who develops individualized treatment and supportive interventions with people of all ages and ability levels to address their social, communication, emotional, physical, cognitive, sensory, and spiritual needs.

The music therapist is specifically trained to use music as its own format for assessment, intervention, and measurable evaluation. All MMTS services are provided by a music therapist meeting all educational and training standards for clinical practice in music therapy, certification by the Certification Board for Music Therapists, Inc.

Board Certified Music Therapists work with clients of all ages through the lifespan in various settings, including homes, schools, hospitals, treatment centers, psychiatric facilities, residential care homes, correctional facilities, and communities.

McConnell Music Therapy Services, Inc. is a music therapy practice that provides music therapy services throughout the greater Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, El Dorado, and Nevada County areas of Northern California. 

Established in April of 2002, MMTS was founded by Tara McConnell, a board certified music therapist and Sacramento native. Tara believes that all persons, with all levels of ability, are people who can actively experience music. Music experience and how it functions within our brain, our heart and our spirit has the power to create change. MMTS brings the music experience to you, with clear treatment goals and research-based methods.

MMTS is committed to the individual needs of each and every client we serve and each and every employee in our practice. We promote active collaboration with other healthcare professionals in creating a trans-disciplinary approach to treatment.
